Red Rocker Terri Blog 2/6/17

Hey Caps fans1

Red Rocker Michelle and I were honored to participate in the Try Blind Hockey Skating Event at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.  The event offered a great opportunity for those who were visually impaired to take to the ice. It ended with an exhibition Game which featured USA Hockey’s Blind Hockey Team Members.  We got an up close view of the modified puck utilized that features internal chimes and got to skate and socialize with an awesome group of folks including volunteers, skaters, and the CEO of the Blinded Veterans Association.  We learned about sports opportunities in the community that pair individuals with sight and those visually impaired to participate in Yoga, Goalball, and Judo in DC.  Those interested can get more information from the Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes.  The Washington Capitals teamed up with the Blinded Veterans Association and USA Hockey to make this wonderful event possible
