AFL Press Conference - 3/16/16

March 18, 2016
On Wednesday, March 16, Red Rockers including myself, Shelby and Megan participated in a press conference officially welcoming the new Arena Football League team to Washington.  How exciting to know Monumental Sports & Entertainment is bringing the AFL to Washington, D.C.!

The day was filled with lots of excitement as we welcomed all guests with big smiles. It was fun greeting everyone along with the help of the Wizards Girls and everyone’s favorite Mascots: Caps Slapshot, the Wizards’ G Wiz, and Pax the Panda from the Mystics.  The day got even better, when owner Ted Leonsis walked in with Kiss front man Gene Simmons, who currently owns the aptly named AFL team the Los Angeles KISS.

The press conference was a thrill to watch. From D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser welcoming the new AFL team to D.C to Ron Jaworski’s (Philadelphia Soul’s majority owner) passionate speech about the AFL and starting a rivalry between D.C. and Philadelphia, the atmosphere was electric!

It’s amazing to be apart of this exciting time and looking forward to hearing the final team name and mascot. Washington, D.C., is certainly rising!
